During Which She Cried

Weekly Poetry - #4

Written By: Mike FraserApril 03 2008

The wet sand walked with us
It stuck to our feet.

And with the hushed wind
we whistled.
I could not leave her look.

Or the sway of
her soul’s beautiful beat.

She caught me
like stars catching the night
come the evening
aged light

The hazel of mine eyes
to the sea blues
of hers’ twinkle

Like the jeweled mahogany sunset
to the march sapphire sky
shining on the shoreline
where our lips first met.

Her gaze
extends to the heavens
and meets
the stars high above.

Like the night
and the moon – their love –
We were together
in that moment
Forever.

A silence fell wide
like the receding tides
broken by the weather

And cracked the clouds
with the softest of sounds

As she whispered
in my ear, with a kiss, “I love you –
Goodbye.”
During which she cried
